Check a pair
6,276,350 home pages · every pair on 20 sites or more
Pick two fonts. The checker says how many of the 6,276,350 home pages counted load both, how that compares with chance, and what share of each font’s sites that is.
A pair is two fonts on the same home page, not which one sets the headings · HTTP Archive · home pages crawled 1 September 2026

Superfamilies, drawn to go together

06 / Questions
Font pairing, counted
How do I check if two fonts go together?
Pick two fonts in the checker at the top of this page. It says how many of the 6,276,350 desktop home pages HTTP Archive crawled on 1 September 2026 load both, how many times as often as chance would put them together, and what share of each font’s sites that is, with a verdict in words. It counts fonts loaded by the same home page: what sites choose, not which font sets the headings, nor whether the two suit your work. Copy link gives the pair an address of its own to share.
What does “times chance” mean?
Chance is how many sites would load two fonts together if every site picked its fonts at random, each as often as sites use it. JetBrains Mono is on 31,465 home pages and Space Grotesk on 34,836: chance alone would put them together on 175, and 4,025 load both, 23× chance. From 1.5× the checker says sites choose two fonts together, from 3× far more than chance; under 1.5× and down to 0.7×, about as often as chance.
Why does the checker call a pair rare?
It knows every pair loaded together by 20 home pages or more. A rarer pair it calls rare, and shows the fonts each one is used with most instead. A font counts by its Google Fonts address or its file’s name: one served under another name is missed, as are fonts outside the catalogue, such as Arial or paid fonts, and pages that load more than 5 fonts of the catalogue, which are font pickers and demos.
What fonts go well together?
On real sites, the pairs of two families used together most, each at least three times as often as chance, are JetBrains Mono with Inter (13,778 sites, 4.3× chance), Space Grotesk with Inter (3.3×) and Titillium Web with Lora (8.8×). Chance is how often two fonts would meet if every site picked its fonts at random, each as often as sites use it.
What are the most popular font combinations?
Open Sans and Roboto, on 179,940 home pages, then Montserrat and Open Sans (128,721). They are the most used fonts, and they meet mostly because each is everywhere: Open Sans and Roboto come together on fewer sites than chance would give them (0.8×).
Are these Google Fonts pairings?
Yes: every font here is on Google Fonts, and free.
Can I use these font pairings in Canva?
Canva publishes no list of its fonts: search its font menu for each name. With Canva Pro or Teams you can upload the font files of any of them, all free fonts.
How are these font pairings counted?
From HTTP Archive’s crawl of 1 September 2026: the fonts each home page loads itself, desktop, a frame of another site such as an ad or a video left out. A font file counts by its Google Fonts address or its file name. Pages that load more than 5 fonts of the catalogue are font pickers and demos, not designs, and are left out: 6,276,350 of 6,315,419 pages remain. A pair is listed from 50 sites; it is beyond chance from 1.5×, and not when nine in ten of its sites load the very same set of fonts, one theme copied. Some fonts come with what a page embeds: Google’s maps and other widgets load Roboto and Google Sans into the pages they sit on. The pages show what sites load together, not which font sets the headings.
