Fonts with the letters you like
Pick the letters you like on any font’s page: this R from one font, this g from another. Every font’s letters are compared with your picks, each with the same letter, and the fonts whose letters look most like all of them come first.

01 / How it works
How the match works
2,035 fonts have their letters measured, 121,938 letters and figures in all.
- Up to 6 letters
- Capitals, small letters or figures, 6 at most, each from any font in the catalogue and as many fonts as you like.
- Letter against letter
- Each font that has all your letters is set against them one by one, its R against your R, its g against your g, and ranked by the average. The fonts your letters came from are left out.
- Scored out of 100
- A pair of letters scores 0 when it is as alike as a typical pair of fonts, and 100 when it is a closer match than nine fonts in ten can find for that letter.
- One kind or all
- The answer lists the 48 closest fonts, of every kind or of one: sans serifs, serifs, display faces, handwriting faces or monospaced fonts.
Letters you like, answered
- Which letters tell fonts apart best?
- Letters with the most parts: a two-storey g with its ear and lower loop, an R with its leg, an a with its bowl and tail. Straight letters such as l, I and 1 differ least between fonts, so pick them last.
- Why does a font I expected not show up?
- Only fonts that have every letter you picked are ranked. A font that sets capitals where small letters should be drops out as soon as you pick a lowercase one, so pick fewer letters to see more fonts.
- How is this different from the similar fonts pages?
- A similar page compares a font whole, letter by letter and trait by trait. Here only the letters you chose count, so the answer can follow the R of one font and the g of another at once.
