Practise bubble letters

Colouring in a hollow bubble letter suits children from about four, once they can keep a crayon roughly inside a fat outline. Drawing the letters freehand, step by step from each letter’s page, suits eight and up, and adults lettering a sign.

Pick a sheet: The alphabet puts all 26 capitals on one page, or the small letters, or both on two pages. Your words sets a name or a short phrase as big as the paper allows.
Choose the font: For small hands, pick a font with roomy holes, Coiny or Bagel Fat One. Modak is the fattest of the five but squeezes its holes to slits that a crayon covers.
Keep the scale: Print at 100% rather than fit to page: the sheet already fills US Letter or A4, and shrinking it thins the outline.
