Minecraft font

The game sets its text in a pixel font of its own, called Mojangles, or Minecraft Seven in the Java Edition: it comes with the game, not as a font to download. The blocky logo is its own lettering too. These free pixel fonts are built on the same square grid.

02 / The lettering, and your questions

01

What font does Minecraft use?

Mojangles is the main font of the game’s text: the Bedrock Edition calls it Mojangles, the Java Edition Minecraft Seven. Source: Minecraft Wiki: Mojangles

02

Is the Minecraft font free?

No. The game’s pixel font comes with the game, not as a font file, and the logo is lettering, not a font. Fan fonts after it are around, and one, Monocraft, is free under the Open Font License. The fonts on this page are free, free for commercial use too, under open licences.

03

How do I use these fonts in Canva?

Search Canva’s font menu for the font’s name: Canva publishes no list of its fonts, so the menu is the only way to know. If it isn’t there, Canva Pro and Teams can upload a font file: get it from the font’s page here.

On the free plan, make a PNG of your words in the pixel font generator and upload it as an image.

04

And in Cricut Design Space?

Install the font on your computer from its page here: Design Space lists the fonts on your computer as system fonts. Or type your words in the pixel font generator and download the SVG: its letters come welded, to cut in one piece. More in Cricut fonts.

05

Can I use them on things I sell?

The fonts, yes: every font on this page is under an open licence that allows commercial use, on shirts, signs, cards and logos. But Minecraft and its logo are someone else’s trademarks: a design that copies the logo or uses the name can still need the owner’s permission. This is a plain answer, not legal advice.
