Glitch text generator
Text that looks broken: your letters under heaps of accents and strokes, light, medium or heavy, to paste into a name, a caption or a chat.
Unicode symbols, not fonts: screen readers may skip or spell them out, and search may not read them as words. For print or a logo, use real fonts

About glitch text
01
How it works
Unicode has combining marks, accents and strokes that attach to the character before them, so one letter can carry many. This page piles them on each letter, above, through and below it: the effect people call Zalgo. The letters underneath stay plain letters.
Light glitch gives each letter 1 to 3 marks, medium 4 to 9, heavy 11 to 20. Each letter’s marks come from its place in the text, so typing on leaves the letters before it as they were, and what you copy is what you see.
02
Where it breaks
Apps draw heaped marks differently: some let them spill over the lines above and below, some clip them to the line, and some take off marks past a limit. Light glitch survives almost everywhere; keep heavy glitch to a short word.
Every mark is a character: a heavily glitched word is many times longer than it looks, and fills the limit of a name or a post fast.
03
Unreadable, on purpose
A screen reader may read out every mark, or give up on the word, and search will not find it. Never use glitch text for anything people need to read.
Glitch text, answered
- What is Zalgo text?
- Glitch text with marks heaped on every letter, named after Zalgo, the being of an internet horror meme of the 2000s whose arrival corrupts comic strips and their words. It is made of Unicode’s combining marks, so it pastes as text.
- Why was my glitch text cut off?
- Some apps clip heaped marks to the line, and some remove marks past a limit or count them toward a name’s or a post’s length. Use the light line, or glitch fewer letters.
- Can I use glitch text in my Discord name?
- In your display name and server nicknames, yes, but they hold 32 characters and every mark counts: a light glitch on a short name fits, a heavy one does not.
- Why does the glitch stay the same as I type?
- Each letter’s marks are picked from its place and its letter, not at random each time, so the text you copy is the text you see.
