Borrowed letters
Unicode has no upside-down alphabet. Most turned letters come from the phonetic alphabet, ɐ, ǝ, ɥ, ɹ and ʇ, a few from maths, ∀, ⊥ and ∩, and some from other alphabets: ᗺ and ᗡ are Canadian syllabics, Ԁ is Cyrillic. H, I, N, O, S, X, Z, l, o, s, x, z, 0 and 8 look the same turned and stay as they are; b, d, p and q, n and u, M and W, 6 and 9 trade places.

Turned, in order
The second line turns each letter but keeps the order, lᴉʞǝ ʇɥᴉs: upside-down letters read left to right, like a sign hung the wrong way.

Turning it back
Upside-down text pasted into the box turns back on the first line: turning twice gives the text back.

Where it works
Most apps show all of it. A few borrowed characters, the Canadian syllabics and ↊ for 2, may show as boxes on older devices. To a screen reader, upside-down text is a string of foreign letters read backwards: nobody hears the words.

- How do I write upside down?

- Why are some letters not flipped?
- H, I, N, O, S, X, Z, l, o, s, x, z, 0 and 8 look the same turned upside down, so they stay as they are. b, d, p and q, n and u, M and W, 6 and 9 swap with each other.
- Can I flip numbers?
- Yes: 1 becomes Ɩ, 2 becomes ↊, 3 becomes Ɛ, 4 becomes ᔭ, 5 becomes ϛ, 7 becomes ㄥ, 6 and 9 swap, and 0 and 8 stay.
- How do I turn upside-down text back?
- Paste it into the box: the Upside down line turns it back the right way up, ready to copy.
