Wide text generator
Wide letters, the vaporwave look of the 2010s, and text spaced out letter by letter. Type once and copy either.
Unicode symbols, not fonts: screen readers may skip or spell them out, and search may not read them as words. For print or a logo, use real fonts

About wide text
01
Letters made for Chinese and Japanese
Full-width forms are Latin letters, digits and signs drawn as wide as a Chinese character, so they line up in a grid of East Asian text. Phones draw them in their Chinese and Japanese fonts, which is why they look a little different from the letters around them. The space between words becomes the ideographic space, as wide as a letter.
02
Vaporwave
In the 2010s vaporwave, music made of slowed-down eighties pop, with pastel gradients and classical busts, took full-width text for its look: aesthetic.
03
Spaced out
The second line sets a space between letters and three between words. It is plain letters, so it shows everywhere, but screen readers and search read it a letter at a time.
04
Where it works
They show on today’s phones and computers, in Instagram and TikTok bios, names, captions and comments, in Discord display names, nicknames and messages, and in posts on X and Facebook. Usernames take only plain letters, numbers, periods and underscores, and Facebook turns them down in a profile name.
On X each wide letter counts as two of a post’s 280 characters, so a styled post holds about half as many letters.
Wide text, answered
- What is vaporwave text?
- Text in full-width letters, aesthetic, the look of vaporwave, a 2010s scene of slowed-down eighties pop and pastel images. The letters come from the full-width forms Unicode keeps for Chinese and Japanese.
- Why does wide text look different on my phone?
- Phones draw full-width letters in their Chinese and Japanese fonts, not in the font of the text around them, so the letters look a little different and sit wider apart.
- How do I type aesthetic text?
- Type your text here and copy the Wide line: each letter, digit and sign becomes its full-width form, and each space a wide space. For plain letters set apart, copy the Spaced out line.
- Can I use wide text in my username?
- No: usernames take only plain letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Use it in your name, your bio or a caption.
