Cursive d
Cursive d is the oval of a with a tall straight stem that goes up to the top line and comes back down the same line, without a loop.
d
- ada
After a, from the baseline
- oda
After o, from the midline
- Stroke order
- 1Start just below the midline and make the oval of a: back to the left, around on the baseline and up again.
- 2Without stopping, carry the stroke on past the midline, straight up to the top line.
- 3Come straight back down the same line to the baseline.
- 4Curve out toward the next letter.
- Where it joins
- It joins as a does: from the baseline the joining stroke climbs to the midline and curves back into the oval, and after b, o, v and w it runs in from their stroke at the midline, as in “od”.
- Mixed up with
A loop in the stem makes d read as cl, and a short stem makes it a: take it up to the top line and back down the same line. Of the tall small letters only b, f, h, k and l loop.
