Cursive j
Cursive j drops below the baseline into a loop turning back to the left, and gets its dot after the word, as i does.
j
- aja
After a, from the baseline
- oja
After o, from the midline
- Stroke order
- 1Start at the midline and slant straight down through the baseline to the descender line.
- 2Loop back to the left and come up to cross the stem at the baseline.
- 3Curve out to the right from the crossing.
- 4Once the word is finished, add the dot.
- Where it joins
- In a word the stroke from the letter before rises to a point at the midline first, as for i. The loop crosses at the baseline and runs on into the next letter, as in “jam”.
- Mixed up with
Print j ends in an open hook below the line; cursive j closes it into a full loop, like g and y. It starts and is dotted like i.
