Cursive b
Cursive b is a tall loop with a small bowl that ends high, at the midline, instead of on the baseline.
b
- aba
After a, from the baseline
- oba
After o, from the midline
- Stroke order
- 1Swing up from the baseline to the top line.
- 2Loop back to the left and come straight down to the baseline.
- 3Curve up and around into a small bowl that reaches the midline.
- 4Finish with a short stroke out to the right at the midline, where the next letter hangs.
- Where it joins
- b is one of four letters, with o, v and w, that end at the midline. The next letter starts from that stroke, not from the baseline: in “be” the e hangs from it, and in “br” the r begins with a little dip.
- Mixed up with
b, f, h, k and l all start with the same tall loop; b is the one that closes a small bowl and stays up at the midline. Ended on the baseline, as in print, it makes the next letter join too low.
