- Stroke order
- 1Begin with the oval of a: from just below the midline, around and back up.
- 2Drop straight down from the oval, past the baseline, to the descender line.
- 3Loop forward, to the right, and come up to close against the stem at the baseline.
- 4Curve out to the right, in English almost always into u.
- Where it joins
- It comes in over the top of the oval, as a does, and leaves from the right of its stem, where the loop closes, pointing straight into the next letter.
- Mixed up with
Above the baseline g and q are the same letter; only the loop below tells them apart: back to the left for g, forward to the right for q. p’s loop turns back, like g’s.
