Cursive r
Cursive r climbs to a point just above the midline, steps right in a small flat shoulder and comes straight down: nothing like print r.
r
- ara
After a, from the baseline
- ora
After o, from the midline
- Stroke order
- 1Swing up from the baseline to a point just above the midline.
- 2Step right in a short, nearly flat shoulder.
- 3Pull straight down to the baseline.
- 4Curve out along the baseline.
- Where it joins
- After b, o, v and w the stroke from the midline dips and climbs back to the point, so “or” and “br” show a small valley before the shoulder. Everywhere else r rises from the baseline.
- Mixed up with
r and s both climb to a point above the midline, which is why they get mixed up: r steps right and comes straight down, s curves down its right side and closes on the baseline. Rounded over, the shoulder turns r into n.
