Cursive y
Cursive y starts with a small hill, rounds a cup on the baseline and drops into a loop that turns back to the left, like the loop of g.
y
- aya
After a, from the baseline
- oya
After o, from the midline
- Stroke order
- 1Start with a small hill, as n does, and slant down to the baseline.
- 2Round the bottom and swing up to the midline.
- 3Slant straight down past the baseline to the descender line.
- 4Loop back to the left, come up to cross at the baseline, and curve out.
- Where it joins
- In a word the joining stroke becomes the small hill; after b, o, v and w it starts from their stroke at the midline. The loop crosses at the baseline and points into the next letter.
- Mixed up with
Print y ends in a straight tail; cursive y closes it into a loop. Above the line it looks like u; below it, its loop is the same as g’s and j’s.
