Cursive e
Cursive e is a small loop that reaches only the midline: the same stroke as l, cut to half its height.
e
- aea
After a, from the baseline
- oea
After o, from the midline
- Stroke order
- 1Swing up from the baseline in a slant to the midline.
- 2Loop back to the left.
- 3Come down across the upstroke to the baseline and curve out.
- Where it joins
- After b, o, v and w there is no upstroke: the stroke from the midline turns straight into the loop, so the e hangs from it, as in “be”, “oe” and “we”.
- Mixed up with
The height of the loop decides it: the midline for e, the top line for l. Without a loop at all, e reads as an undotted i.
