Bubble letter T
Bubble T is a fat bar resting on a fat post, the two corners under the bar rounded where the post meets it.
- The font
- Modak. Round, puffed up. Free to use, from the catalogue.
- Step by step
- 1Sketch a bar across the top and a line dropping from its middle.
- 2Puff bar and post out to one width, rounding both ends of the bar and the foot.
- 3Round the two inside corners under the bar too, so the outline flows into the post.
- 4Grey the underside of both halves of the bar and the post’s right edge, with light along the top of the bar.
- Watch for
- A bar too short for its post makes the T look like a nail. Make the bar roughly the letter’s height in length.
- Mixed up with
Shorten its bar and a bubble T reads as an I; with its arms drooping, as Bagel Fat One draws it, it looks like an umbrella or a Y.

03 / Questions
Bubble T, answered
A 3D bubble letter is its outline drawn twice, the copy a little down and to the right, the corners joined.
Where does the depth go on a 3D bubble T?
For a 3D T, add the edge under the right half of the bar, down the post and under its foot; under the left half it is only a short strip.
Should the bar of a bubble T be as thick as the post?
About as thick, or a little thinner. A bar much fatter than the post looks like a lid, and a thin one breaks the bubble look.
How do you colour a bubble T?
Colour the bar and the post in two colours, or in one with a darker band where they meet, so the T keeps its shape.
