The font
Modak. Round, puffed up. Free to use, from the catalogue.
Step by step
  1. 1Pencil a line down with a long arm across its top and a shorter one just above the middle.
  2. 2Swell the strokes to one thickness, rounding the end of each arm and the foot.
  3. 3Leave the gap between the arms open to the right, and the space under the lower arm empty.
  4. 4Shade beneath both arms and the stem below them on its right, with a light streak along the top arm.
Watch for
An F with arms of one length looks like an E with a missing foot. Keep the lower arm clearly shorter, and stop it above halfway.
Mixed up with

Add a bottom arm and a bubble F becomes an E; curl the lower arm back to the stem and it is a P.

03 / Questions

Bubble F, answered

A 3D bubble letter is its outline drawn twice, the copy a little down and to the right, the corners joined.

Where does the depth go on a 3D bubble F?

Its depth sits under the top arm, inside the gap, under the lower arm and down the stem to the foot.

What makes a bubble F look unbalanced?

All its weight is at the top, with nothing on the right of the foot. Make the stem a touch thicker than the arms, so the F stands on it.

How do you colour a bubble F?

The empty space under the lower arm is part of the letter: colour the background there too, or the F looks like a P with a hole.
