- Modak. Round, puffed up. Free to use, from the catalogue.
- Step by step
- 1Pencil a tall line with a hook to the right at its top, and a bar across at x-height.
- 2Inflate stem, hook and bar together, rounding the hook’s tip, the bar’s two ends and the foot.
- 3Leave room under the hook, between its tip and the bar.
- 4Grey beneath the hook and the bar and down the stem’s right, with a glint on the hook.
- Watch for
- A hook that curls down onto the bar closes the gap, and the f turns into a fat t with a flag. Keep the hook short.

03 / Questions
Bubble f, answered
A 3D bubble letter is its outline drawn twice, the copy a little down and to the right, the corners joined.
Where does the depth go on a 3D bubble f?
On an f the depth tucks under the hook and the bar, then drops along the stem’s right side below them.
How long is the bar of a bubble f?
Roughly the hook’s own reach, so the f looks balanced. Bagel Fat One curls the hook back on itself, and keeps the bar short under it.
How do you colour a bubble f?
Colour stem and hook together, then lay the bar across them.
