- 1Rough in a little circle and a tall line against its right side, up to capital height.
- 2Fatten bowl and stem by the same amount, with round ends at the stem’s top and foot.
- 3Let the bowl’s hole sit open against the tall stem.
- 4Darken the stem’s right edge top to bottom and the bowl’s base, with shine on the bowl.

- A stem no taller than the bowl turns the d into an a. Take the stem up to the capitals’ height.
