The font
Modak. Round, puffed up. Free to use, from the catalogue.
Step by step
  1. 1Sketch an oval as tall as an x.
  2. 2Outline it twice, once outside and once inside, keeping the band the same thickness.
  3. 3Don’t let the hole shrink to a slit; Bagel Fat One lays it on its side as a wide slot.
  4. 4Darken the band’s lower right outside and the hole’s rim at its upper left, with a glint on the band’s top left.
Watch for
Drawn only from the outside, a small o is a ball. Add the inner line and give the hole a third of the width.
Mixed up with

With a stem on its right a bubble o is an a, with a tall stem a d or a b, and with its ring open on the right a c.

03 / Questions

Bubble o, answered

A 3D bubble letter is its outline drawn twice, the copy a little down and to the right, the corners joined.

Where does the depth go on a 3D bubble o?

The 3D o gets one crescent outside, lower right, and one within the hole, upper left.

Is a small bubble o just a smaller capital O?

Very nearly: it is shorter, as tall as the other small letters, and in most fonts about as wide. Its hole is smaller, so draw its ring a little thinner than the capital’s.

How do you colour a bubble o?

Colour round the ring in rings of colour, and keep the hole white, or give it a colour of its own.
